6 Reasons to Tint your Car

There are many reasons to tint your car from protecting against health concerns, safety and privacy reasons, as well as preserving your investment in your car. Listed below are the TOP 6 reasons that people tint their cars.

1.      Better Driving

Driving with the sun directly in your face isn’t just an annoyance – it can be deadly. Car window tint shields your eyes and prevents glare from all sources of extreme light so you’ll never be caught driving badly due to no fault of your own.

2.      Awesome Privacy

Let’s face it, in some of the more unsavory parts of town it’s always a good idea to keep a low profile. Cart tint guards your personal privacy no matter where are you. And not only that, but it also protects the things inside your car when you’re not around. No more stashing your valuables out of sight every time you park!

3.      Upholstery Protection

The heat and UV rays from direct sunlight can turn your upholstery into a mess in a few short years, but did you know this is highly preventable? Car tint keeps your car interior from getting hot enough to warp, fade, or crack, and blocks up to 90% of harmful UV rays from entering.

4.      Shatter Proofing

Tint helps to keep your car’s window from shattering upon impact with an object or in the event of an accident. This can go a long way to protecting the health and lives of your passengers if anything unexpected happens on the road.

5.      Keeping Cool

With the right window tint, you can reduce the heat inside your car in the scorching summer months by up to 60%. Keep the heat out and never worry about pitching up at work drenched in sweat ever again.

6.      Staying Healthy

Direct sunlight and the associated UV rays doesn’t just damage your skin and accelerate ageing, it can also cause skin cancer over a prolonged period of exposure. Reduce harmful UV rays by up to 99% by installing quality car tint.

How Much Does Car Tint Cost?

Oddly, this is a even harder subject than explaining how a window film works The price for a car tint can vary dramatically from the cheapest fly-by-night shop from Php 2,500.00 to the luxury tint shop’s Php 20,000.00 or more. For each of these situations, the price can be considered REASONABLE. What a REASONABLE price is depends on many factors:

Your Car Type

Quite simply, a small percentage of cars are harder to tint than others. When getting a price quote, a Tint Shop always asks you for the make and model of your car. This isn’t to see how much money you have and charge you up the wazoo. (Often it is with less reputable tinters)

Tinters know which cars take more time to tint properly. Some cars with steep and curved rear windows like the Volkswagen Beetle or Camrys’ tinters often charge a premium to tint. Additionally, each additional square foot of window on your vehicle requires more window film to tint. This makes tinting a SUV or station wagons cost more than sedans.

Type of Tinting Film

Just like comparing a Hyundai to a Porsche, there are wide performance and cost differences in tinting film. The cheapest window film can be many times less in price than more expensive film, but you get what you pay for.

Cheap film may look good at the beginning, but they can fail to block the summer heat, fade, turn purple, or bubble soon after installation. Higher quality window film such as fully-metallized sputtered or deposition window films like SolarGard HP films offer both advanced performance and a lifetime warranty. These films are worth the higher price.

Performance WarrantyYou are highly encouraged to ask about the Performance Warranty before you pay for tinting services from anybody. Typically these Warranty’s can last from as little as 1 year to a Lifetime.

Not all Warrantees are created equal! Most warrantees only cover problems such as cracking, glazing, bubbling, and peeling. Some films carry a “Color-Safe Warranty” that gives you peace of mind that if the color of your tint ever changes, it will be replaced. The best warrantees are “Transferable” which allow you to transfer the warranty to another person when you sell the car. This adds permanent value to your car.

Be Careful! Irresponsible tint shops can also offer “Lifetime Warrantees”; however, if they go out of business next year, who is there to replace your bubbling tint? You should always factor in this “hidden” cost when buying low priced car tint.

Dealer’s Reputation

Reputable Tint Shops take great pride in their work. They have high standards in who they hire, the film they use, and overall customer service and experience.

After you make your decision, remember to always make an appointment with the tint shop before you tint your car. Even if they say “drop-ins accepted” or “bring it over any time”, you want your tinter to be calm and prepared for you when you arrive. Tinting may take a couple hours to half a day, so either bring your laptop and take advantage of their wifi service, or bring a book and enjoy the shop’s customer lounge / entertainment offered.
