Auto Window Film FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions on Window Films

How long does it take to install film on my car?
It all depends on the number of windows that need tint as well as the type of car. As long as you use a qualified, professional window film installer, the job will usually take anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Removal of the former film would also add to the time involved. There is no fixed time as there are several factors that contribute such as fading, age and adhesive of the tint being replaced. The point here is not to rush to enjoy good quality installation.

Is automotive window film installed on the inside or the outside of the glass?
Window film is always applied to the inside of the automotive glass. Installers simply use the outside of the window to cut & heat shrink the window film for a proper fit

Will window film stop all interior HEAT?
No. Window film will not completely eliminate heat from penetrating. Depending on the type of window film that is applied, window film can reduce the heat by up to 90%+ on the glass. It’s important to note there are multiple causes for interior heating – conduction, convection of the ceiling, body and glass. But the sting from the sun which causes you to feel the heat is combatable by the infra red rejection capability of the film. The higher the IR, the better the rejection.

Will window film damage my residential dual pane windows?
As long as your professional installer uses the right type of window film, your dual pane windows should not be affected.

Does security film prevent the glass from breaking?
No. Security film does an excellent job at holding broken glass together but it cannot prevent the window from breaking if it comes in contact with a severe force (e.g. hurricane, baseball bat blow).
